Readiness Beyond Routine: Preparing Nurses and Nursing Students for Disasters and Mass Casualties" – A Structured Plan/Advisory from CNRS- Dt. 11.05.2025

Preparing Nurses and nursing students for disasters such as war (e.g., an Indo-Pak conflict),
natural calamities, or mass casualty events involves a multi-layered educational and training
approach. During wartime, the Government of India (GOI) focuses on a multi-layered approach
to disaster preparedness, encompassing both natural and man-made disasters. This includes
strengthening disaster risk reduction, developing institutional mechanisms, and incorporating
international, regional, national, and local disaster risk reduction strategies. Key players like
the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the National Disaster Response
Force (NDRF) play crucial roles in policy formulation, preparedness, and response. Civil
Defence also contributes before, during, and after emergencies.
